Solutions Architect- CISCO Collaboration and CISCO Meraki in St Leonards at Westcon-Comstor

Job Description

The Cisco Solutions Architect role is a critical touch point within the Sales Team regarding perceived partner value of Westcon, partner enablement, opportunity qualification, internal training and quoting. The role will require a high level of professionalism and the ability to juggle multiple tasks whilst ensuring a consistent level of support to our partners and internally (whilst also travelling interstate).


  • Providing design advice and pre-sales technical support on Cisco Solutions to channel partners and internal resources
  • Manage demonstration equipment, perform product demonstrations and proof of concepts to channel partners
  • Train, enable and generate awareness of the benefits of Cisco and Cisco technology to channel partners through one to one or one to many sessions via different delivery methods
  • Maintain all necessary Cisco qualifications and certifications for the distribution accreditation requirement - Systems Engineer

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Achieve quarterly MBOs
  • Achieve necessary Cisco KPI's and targets
  • Spend 60% of week making regular face-to-face, video and telephone contact with existing and new resellers
  • Be a certified subject matter expert on the Cisco Collaboration and Meraki portfolio's (products and services)
  • Develop strong relationships within Westcon customers and Cisco
  • Work closely with the Westcon sales team and make sure they are trained on how to sell CISCO Collaboration and Meraki
  • Be able to support and train (or facilitate) for the pre-sales team for quoting purposes
  • Understand and promote the Cisco and Westcon promotions in market
  • Work with a resellers end users where appropriate
  • Facilitate and enable of channel partners to Cisco Specialisation
  • Provide design advice, guidance and quotations
  • Provide input and direction to sales and marketing plans on a quarterly basis.
  • Demonstrate products (physical or Cloud) and perform proof of concepts to channel partners and end customers
  • Supporting resellers through presentations (1 to 1 or 1 to many), queries and training as required by the business. Focus on presenting products as solutions, presenting real business benefits.
  • Ensure up-sell opportunities are explored with customer quotations
  • To maintain exceptional customer service, and consistently strive to exceed customer expectations.
  • Attend technical training and briefings where appropriate

Skills and Knowledge

  • CCDA - Cisco Certified Design Associate (A valid CCENT or a valid CCNA Routing and Switching or any CCIE certification) or CCDP, CCDE or CCIE
  • Ability to influence
  • Educator in technology
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to build strong relationships quickly and effectively both over the phone and face to face
  • Advanced PowerPoint, presentation and facilitation skills
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Effective communication skills both orally and written
  • Good attention to detail and follow-up
  • Negotiation/persuasion skills
  • Experience with Cisco configuration tools preferred
  • Broad understanding of Networking solutions and offerings in market, both Cisco & competitive


  • Demonstrated public speaking
  • Competitive vendor experience
  • Experience in a sales role
  • The equivalent of at least 5 years in a technical role, infrastructure and networking role
  • Experience across multiple vendors
  • Presales hands on experience with Cisco
  • Understanding and experience working in the IT channel. Previous work experience in a reseller or vendor is highly regarded.
  • Must be able to work independently, with little supervision and high self motivation and energy levels. Also must be highly versatile when dealing with multiple facets of the business and partners.
