Job Description

Westcon-Comstor is currently hiring for a product manager. This role holds dual responsibility is to ensure alignment to the vendor strategy, Westcon Comstor strategies and objectives and to own the end-to-end relationship with Vendors. The Product Manager is responsible for the commercial success of Westcon Comstor vendors, provide guidance to Westcon Comstor Vendor Operations, wider Sales and Customer Service Teams to enable them to be more proactive in business development, marketing planning activities and technical pre-sales/training.

Job Summary

  • Development of a Strategic Business plan, in consultation with key stakeholders from Westcon-Comstor and with Vendors.
  • To support in the identification and qualify strategic channel partners for the Vendors in conjunction with the Sales team
  • Identify and profile, new Vendor channel partners in conjunction with the Sales team
  • Where applicable, drive take up of certification programs.
  • Utilise Vendor and Westcon-Comstor resources to train the reseller channel to ensure long term growth.
  • To ensure Westcon-Comstor internal processes, pricing, stock and profit objectives support the Vendor agency and are met.
  • Grow opportunity for the vendor and Westcon-Comstor for renewal and annuity revenue, where applicable.
  • The "Vendor" product manager is responsible for the management and endorsement of Global Programmes, where appropriate for the local market
  • Grow opportunity for the Westcon-Comstor Services and Cloud business units
  • Incorporate Westcon-Comstor Services and Cloud business units into all plans where relevant

Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to build strong relationships quickly and effectively
  • Good administrative skills with attention to detail and good follow-up
  • Knowledge of effective inventory management, control methods and strategies - experience with adhering to processes and policies relating to stock management and ability to make process improvements on related aspects
  • General computer literacy with Microsoft Office products, and preferably ERP experience with SAP
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills a requirement i.e. using Pivot Tables and manipulating data
  • Understanding of and ability to apply pricing, gross profit, discounts, margin calculations
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong negotiation/persuasion skills and ability to evangelise a product set/brand
  • Previous demonstrable successful experience in a customer facing role, with responsibility for achieving (revenue and margin) targets
  • Tertiary qualification in Marketing and/or Business would be highly regarded.


  • Previous demonstrable successful experience in Product Management in a vendor, customer or in technology based distribution, with responsibility for achieving business (revenue and margin) targets, and business plan strategy and objectives
  • Experience with pipeline management and forecasting meetings administration and hygiene. Experience in technology based distribution for networking, security, collaboration, data centre, storage, infrastructure, cloud and services vendors background would be highly
