Job Description

The Presales Engineer is the key customer touch point within the Customer Service team and is responsible for providing pre-sales technical support and quoting services to the channel partners and internal resources. The Pre-Sales Engineer is responsible for the pre-sales activity from quoting to time of order is received using Westcon-Comstor and primarily focussing on the Vendor's processes and procedures.


  • Keep abreast of developments in Networking and security technology and solutions.
  • Gain and/or maintain technical accreditation in appropriate Networking Vendor technologies.
  • Take queries, mainly via phone and email, regarding technical requirements
  • In conjunction with Westcon - Comstor staff and Vendor resources, assist channel partners to close current and new business.
  • Gain a thorough understanding of the clientele business, in conjunction with BDMs, resulting in constructive criticism, knowledgeable contribution, and pro-active sales support.
  • Generate and provide customer quotations using the Vendor quoting and configuration tool.
  • Recommend product/technology solutions to dedicated customers.
  • Maintain exceptional customer service, and consistently strive to exceed customer expectations.
  • Monitor the performance of allocated accounts and set achievable strategies that will result in increased sales for Westcon - Comstor .
  • Report all market information accurately to Westcon - Comstor management.
The ideal candidate would possess the following attributes:

  • Strong communications skills written and verbal
  • Highly motivated with a desire to become a Presales Engineer/Technical Consultant
  • Attention to detail and strong mathematics/analytical skills
  • Problem solver - follow through any issues till the end
  • Flexible and a team player
  • Exposure to working with security technologies
  • Technical certifications in Security- CCSA, JNCIA, CCNA-Security, CCNP-Security or equivalent preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities situations
  • Channel enablement experience will be highly considered around Partner presentations, Proof of concepts and Product demonstrations
  • Sales driven mindset and keen to perform sales administration tasks which supports deal conversion
  • 2-3 years experience in a similar role.
